Mehboob Alam, a staffer of ‘The News’ Rawalpindi, has appealed to RPO and CPO, Rawalpindi to take a look into the case of his nephew, Mohammad Niaz, who is missing in custody of Police Chowki Gondal, District Attock, since March 27, 2013. On the fateful day of March 15, 2013, two cousins Mohammad Abrar (30) son on Rab Nawaz and Mohammad Niaz (14) son of Mohammad Fayyaz, residents of Village Ziarat, District Attock, were on their way home, after delivering milk on their motorcycle when their rival group intercepted them and opened fire on Mohammad Abrar, killing him on the spot.

Karachi: 3 ‘kidnappers’ killed in encounter

Three alleged kidnappers were killed during an encounter with a team of Special Investigation Unit at Northern Bypass on Sunday. Police also recovered arms, hand grenades and a snatched car from their possession. They were wanted by the Karachi and interior Sindh police in a number of murder and kidnapping for ransom cases. The Sindh government had also announced their head money. According to SSP Mohammed Farooq Awan of SIU Karachi, they received information that some proclaimed offenders were seen roaming in Surjani Town area.

Police claimed to have arrested three proclaimed offenders including Usman Yaqub alias Shani, Nasir alias Bablu bearing head money of Rs 0.5m announced by the Punjab govt each. District Police Officer Ather Ismail disclosed this talking to the newsmen. SP (Investigation) Sialkot Asad Sarfraz Khan and senior member Sialkot District Peace Committee Zafar Malik were also present. The DPO added that a police team led by inspector Zulfiqar Ahmed Chatta, SHO of Cantt police, raided a hideout in outskirts of Lahore and arrested both the accused.

The police arrested a wanted suspect belonging to a notorious gang of criminals in Peerabad on Sunday. Abdul Kabir, a close aide of Mehfoozullah, popularly known as Bhalu Bhai, was arrested and a huge cache of weapons, ammunitions and CCTV cameras were seized by the Counter-Terrorism Wing personnel. Mehfoozullah is a former activist of a political party. A police team, headed by SSP Raja Umer Khattab, launched a search operation in Peerabad late Saturday night but the law enforcers came under heavy fire, which was retaliated. The Anti-vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) of the Civil Lines Police Division (CLPD) on Sunday claimed to have smashed an inter-district gang of auto-lifters by arresting its three members including the ringleader. The arrested bandits have confessed to their involvement in 25 auto-lifting incidents. The police have recovered six cars worth five million rupees from their possessions. Police said that SP Syed Jamaat Ali Bokhari gave special task to DSP Tariq Mahmood Sukhera to unearth the gangs involved in auto-lifting.

The Danewal Police claimed to have arrested a drug-pusher with 4-kg of opium worth about Rs4 million here the other day. As per detail, DSPs Raja Ghulam Abbas, Abdul Majeed Chishti and some SHOs were with rooting out narcotics business from the district by DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar. Complying with the directions, on a tip-off, the Danewal Police SHO raided Old Bus Stand and arrested one Muhammad Saleem, son of Faiz Muhammad, a resident Shell Depot with 4-kg of opium while his accomplices managed to escape from the scene. The police registered a case against the accused. It is to be noted that a case 117/07 was also registered against the accused some eight years ago but he was not arrested.

Lohi Bher Police Station Wednesday arrested a total of 33 suspects during search operation in their respective areas, a police spokesman said. Following the directions of IGP Islamabad Bani Amin Khan, teams of Lohi Bher Police Station conducted search in their areas. The search operation was conducted in various localities including slum areas, under-construction buildings as well as houses, hotels and a total of 33 suspects were arrested who could not produce any document for their identification. In the same area, a school principal was killed and scores others were injured when a low-intensity blast hit a private school late on Saturday. Armed men kidnapped a nomad girl at gunpoint after injuring her mother near Dallokhel Phattak on the outskirts of Lakki, police said on Monday. Sehat Bibi, the injured mother of the girl, a resident of Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab, told police that seven armed persons entered the area near Dallokhel Phattak where their tents were erected and opened firing on them. “As a result I sustained bullet wounds while a dog was killed,” she said.

A 30-year-old man, who was arrested from his Mughalpura house during a police raid a couple of days ago, was recovered tortured to death from the canal on Monday, police and eyewitnesses said. It was learnt that five policemen raided the residence of Rizwan alias Raja in the Wali Park area and picked him up on the charges of drug-peddling. The cops did not take the man to the police station and preferred to keep him under illegal detention at a private torture cell.
